Love as the Balm
It has, indeed, been a polarity of heaviness and joyful expansiveness these 2 weeks since I last wrote you.
In midst of the welcoming rebirthing of Spring, our community continues to mourn, grieve, and heal from the shocking and tragic unfolding at King Soopers.
As the weather brightens, the bundling lessens, and our abilities to be in connection increase, it is easy to forget the reality of what unfolded in our town just days ago. I then drive by the store and the incredible alter of grief, love, celebration of life, confusion, and outpouring from our community and those surrounding at the scene of the tragedy.
It is a stunningly beautiful site in midst of such horror. Layers upon layers of flowers, signs, images, candles, stones…prayers of all forms aligning the fence that has partitioned off the store. The fate of this store, and our community, still remain unknown.
As we all grapple to make sense of the senseless, it feels crucial to begin to orient our hearts and souls back towards the realm of love.
To truly use love as a balm for these times.
Love is a verb. It is an action. It is a way of living and being that has been lacking in our world for far too long and is being magnified by these horrific acts of violence being played out.
Of course, I am not referring to ALL of us as there are so many bright beings shining their lights during these times. Many doing their personal work and showing up for themselves, their families, friends, and communities.
I have been deeply moved to witness the women in my current Acceptance Circle (ranging in age from 31 to 77!) creating beautiful changes from within and, therefore, stepping more fully into their personal truth on all levels. It is inspiring to say the least!
In midst of so much expansion and possibility, the King Soopers massacre is also shedding light on the underlying darkness, hatred, and unrest that a large part of our country feel.
And, we are being given the opportunity to turn right towards ourselves as we dance that fine line between getting wrapped up in the outer world circumstances to our own journey of unfolding and rebirthing at this potent time of year.
We can choose to gaze inwardly into our own hearts and ways of moving through our lives.
To truly turn and look at where the gaps are in our alignment with our true selves and with the pervasive love that surrounds us at all times.
I will continuously advocate for the deep inner work to be done in order to heal the outer world so desperately needing of a reboot. It all begins within. Until we excavate the inner angst nothing in the outer world is going to shift.
To me that says that there is a call to return to love, return to a relationship with ourselves that is based upon unconditional and compassionate unwavering acceptance.
So, what are we going to do about it? How do we keep showing up and meeting these days, weeks, and months to the best of our ability with our hearts open, in connection, with spaciousness in our state of being?
As the wise and talented John Lennon poured into the world so many years ago, “What the world needs now is love, sweet love”. May be cliché, but perhaps that is exactly what the world needs.
What we all need.
I am curious as to how can we infuse our lives with more love? I am not referring to romantic love per se but rather to begin to move through our day-to-day emanating love for humanity on the whole.
Love for the sheer privilege it is to be alive during this pivotal time on the planet. Love and COMPASSION for the suffering of the world. Love and FIERCENESS to create the changes that are needed, beginning within our own bodies, hearts, and souls.
Where are the gaps in your life where the darkness has seeped in? Where are you feeling flat and discouraged?
The change must begin within our own selves, our homes, our relationships, our connection to the Universal flow on the whole.
Of course, the human condition does not model of us we are not celebrated in our alignment with that place of pure unconditional love but yet that’s exactly what is needed.
What other option do we have right now? If you are resistant to taking a look at yourself, I just invite you to ask why what are you afraid of what will it take for you to create the changes and shifts in your life that are so deeply needed?
What is one step that you can take now towards opening to a experience of love within yourself what wound can humans in your own heart in your own psyche and your own soul and spirit and body?
What support do you need in order to do this?
Love is the way.
Please reach out if you need connection, support, and/or guidance!
