Slow and Steady

After the long, cold, dark, (seemingly endless) Winter in Colorado, this time of renewal feels exceptionally glorious.

The impulse may be to go for it in every way!  Feeling that sense of making up for lost time....the impulse of urgency to accomplish all that was put aside during the nesting months of Winter is at the forefront. Yet,  simultaneously there is an energy of grounding,  acclimating, and digging into new realms of our lives.

Moving into this season of growth and expansion, brimming with opportunity, while pacing ourselves, allowing things to breathe and flow, and staying connected to our bodies and hearts is essential in creating these new pathways of living and being on a sustainable level.

The energy of these times has been so much start, stop, start, stop, start, stop….very imbalanced.  Leading so many to feeling exhausted, running on fumes, and knowing deep in their bones that they need to make some changes as this way of living is not sustainable.

Does this land for you?

It could be a midlife awakening (as I know many of you reading are in), a clear need for something in your relationships and partnerships to shift, a pattern within you that is outdated and holding you back from living your life in alignment, or perhaps it is simply a stirring from within telling you that something needs to change...yet, what direction that path is taking may remain unknown.

There is a palpable reorganization going on that we can tap into when we have the courage to slow down and tune in.

To really listen to our bodies, to our hearts, and to our souls calling.

Any change process that will sustain must be created with an unwavering presence with ourselves, the willingness to get comfortable in the discomfort, diligence in practice, and action that is steady and balanced.

From that place, we can begin to create new pathways in ourselves that will stick. We can create ridges in our being that will guide us onward from a place of authenticity, truth, and integrity.

We can remember that we have choice in every moment.

We can re-prioritize what is needed along our journey, NOW. We can get clear about what is most important to give our precious energy to on a day-to-day, moment-by-moment basis to sustain our process and stay awake and present as these energies continue to flow.

What ripple do we want to create in our being for ourselves and our communities…..

Choosing to move through life with consciousness, steadiness, and mindfulness supports the quest for balance, for ease of living and being, for consistency and trust, for flow and surrender, and for authentically aligned action, which I know so many are seeking.

I read something the other day on Instagram about a woman who effortlessly wrote her book as she made it a practice to rest before sitting down to write. She would do a restorative or yoga nidra practice….closing her eyes and letting her body and mind and heart rest. From that space, she was able to sit down and the words poured out of her fluidly and with ease.

I was so struck by this, just reflecting on my own life. Whether it had been in running my business or in navigating my personal world as a single mama, for years I carried with me this overarching feeling that I needed to stay so diligently on top of everything or the pieces we’re going to crumble.

There was no time to rest, I needed to stay caffeinated and alert and extremely productive. For many years there was significant truth to this….not feeling as though I could release the reins or else all of the puzzle pieces would fall apart. I had a special needs kiddo to support and the reality was if I didn’t stay diligent with my efforts, I would lose my housing and my access to food and healthcare. I name this with no shame as this is a factual situation that many people struggle with.

In reflection of those times, I feel so deeply how imbalanced life was on every front. There was no way I could sustain it. And, yet, I did for many, many years.

The impact of that time on my heart and being is a humbleness, a deep level of authenticity, incredible gratitude, pure love, and an abundance of compassion for humanity.

Here I stand, today, in my own unwinding process as these imprints take time to undo…my unwavering commitment to myself, to my son, to my family, to my work, to service of humanity… are my guiding forces.

I have a gift of perspective and, hopefully, wisdom to share.

We need time to acclimate our experiences. We live in a society of next, next, next, next, without pausing and appreciating. Without integrating.

Yet, giving ourselves the time and space to breathe and integrate our experiences of life, is a tremendously important component of healing on a sustainable level. If not, we just end up bypassing our experiences and can easily regress back into old patterns.

So, perhaps this message showed up for you today as a reminder, as an invitation, to do what you’re not used to doing… to strive for balance…to slow things down… to rest in the crevices.

To take exquisite care of your beautiful selves with whatever means you have accessible to you, and to remember that you’re not alone on this wild human journey.

Let the dust settle.

Open to what is in the present moment for you.

Cultivate appreciation for what is.

Dream and vision what’s next in your world.

Do your practices with love and diligence.

Keep your pulse on moving forward and allow life's path to take course.

Embody your rebirthing.

Slow and steady.

Reach out anytime.  I always love hearing from you.

May we all hold each other in love and with deep compassion for this human ride of life.
