Out of the Head. Into the Body.

Do you ever have the experience of when you are literally lost in thought and completely disconnected from your body and the present moment? I believe that every single one of us can relate to these moments, some more than others.
 
When we spend our lives thinking and re-thinking every nuance of life and it’s unfolding, we remain stuck in a space of disconnect.
 
We cannot think our way through our healing journey. We cannot heal unless we are connected to our bodies. I truly believe this with every ounce of my being. 
 
Body disconnect is an epidemic, and, I believe is the cause of so many human ailments and fragmentations including depression, anxiety, addictions, debilitating ways of operating, chronic patterns....the list is endless....
 

When we are dropped down into our bodies we are able to access our truth, the present moment, our hearts stirrings, and our most authentic voices. Life just flows with our inner rhythm.
 
Sure, there are always blips on the screen, but we able to navigate the bumps, twists, and turns from a place of integrity, ground, and inner connection.
 
Anytime I find myself swirling in fear and anxiety, melting into depression or deep sadness, reaching for something to try and help me to feel "better"....I recognize very quickly that my connection to my body is lacking. I seem to find myself floating through the world in a body but I am not connected....things are not aligned....I am not intact. 

There is absolutely no judgment around this in any way as I am sure that many can relate to this scenario. EVERYONE experiences this in moments....we are human.

It's bringing awareness to that fragmentation when we can create new pathways towards sustainable healing and authentic and aligned embodiment. 

Having been in this exploration for over 2 decades, I know very quickly that I am not too far off.....I recognize in midst of my own swirl, what I need to do to get back into my body, back into my center, in a way that is honoring of my process. Messy, beautiful, healing, growth promoting....ever changing. 

In working with clients, I see this repeatedly....the cycles that they spin in and return to regularly because their MINDS ARE LEADING THE WAY. Not their bodies infinite wisdom. 

There is a disconnect, usually they are not breathing properly, and they are not trusting themselves.

And, then they remember and come back home. 


This is the work....we forget to remember and each time we do, we have the opportunity to move through life even more empowered and upright in who we are. 

I share this with you as I see so often this need for everything to just shift and be shifted and never budge again....never go backwards....never exit the body again.

That is just not the reality of life and especially along the path of sustainable and embodied healing. As humans, we are in constant evolution.....we can choose to constantly uplevel our state of being.

When we are able to interrupt the cycle and close the gap of time between our fluctuations....that's when true, authentic, embodied, and sustainable changes start to imprint our being. 

As human adults we must unlearn the pattern of thinking and re-learning how to drop into and connect with our bodies. It is a process and a journey of discovery as we peel back the layers of tension in our cells, tissues, muscles, bones, and nervous system to uncover the truth of who we are in our purest form. It is the human condition to take on the energies and emotions of the evolution of our lives….everyone does it.

What is then demanded of us, if we want to heal from the inside out in a sustainable and empowered way, is to learn how to unwind these tensions and feel ourselves on a deeper level….an embodied and aligned level.

Working with the body and through the body with unwavering compassion, curiosity, kindness, and love is the way to do this.

We can spend years re-hashing our life’s stories through talking and recapitulating their every nuance, without dropping into our bodies, and never progress. There is another way.

I understand that for many it is incredibly difficult to know how to drop into our bodies and feel our feelings after spending years upon years stifling the body out of protection. When we numb, suppress, ignore, and/or distract ourselves, we delete our capacity to show up for our lives in their current state. This may be completely unconscious.

So, what would happen if we shifted that narrative, that story, and that way of moving through life? Rather than allowing our actions to be dictated by our minds every whim, we chose to take those deep belly breaths and allow ourselves to drop down into our bodies and moved from there….

 

One step at a time….into the unknown, the uncertainty, yet from a calling from deep within the pulsation of our hearts beat.

 

What would happen if we truly shifted the paradigm of our lives by choosing to drop into our bodies before acting or reacting or speaking or writing or hitting the send button…?

 

Our bodies remember everything. They are wise beyond words. Choosing to embody who you are, exactly how you are in this present moment in time is a declaration and a fierce gesture of love of ourselves on the most authentic, aligned, and empowered level. 

 

Do whatever you can to drop yourself down into your body.

We must work through the body to heal.
