The Micro Moments of Connection
We began this week under the beams of the Super Full Moon…culminating the intensity of Eclipse Season these past many weeks. Even if you do not track the planetary activity and moon cycles, I would imagine that you have been feeling the swirls of energy taking shape on many fronts on a personal and collective level.
To me, there is always an opportunity to learn, grow, and heal with life challenges and upheavals. If we choose to. There is always the gold in the rubble to be accessed and carried forward…if we are open to seeing it.
There are always moments of reflection and a renewed commitment to creating changes in our lives which can ripple out to others.
A beautiful and essential way of staying anchored in midst of these swirls of life is through connection. It does not always demand a deep dive into the waters of connection but rather can be those micro moments of life.
Little micro moments of connection add up. They rewire us to live more in the present.
These micro moments don't necessarily need to be with another human. They can be with the trees, taking in the beauty of flowers, feeling the warmth of sunshine on your face…
Micro moments of connection with ourselves goes a very long way in supporting this mission of presence. If we are not connected to ourselves, it is very difficult to be connected to the present moment and the world around us.
Micro moments of connection can also be being quiet together. It doesn't have to be verbal or physical… It can be just being with another without doing anything…
I had the privilege of driving my 16-year-old down south for his mountain bike race this past Sunday in the wee hours of the morning. I woke him up in the dark, and he willingly got into the car for the 3+ hour trek to the course.
After eating he drifted off to sleep and stayed that way for about an hour and a half. As it was early in the morning there were very few cars on the road. It was a gorgeous drive with the unfolding colors of Fall popping at every turn. Sipping my coffee, listening to music, and having Kai resting peacefully next to me, I felt so connected to myself and to my child whom I have been struggling with connecting lately.
To me, this wasn’t a grandiose moment of connection…no deep conversations…no words…no interactions…yet this micro moment was impactful. It set the stage for a wonderfully connected day at his race and the opportunity for us both to find presence with each other.
So, just a little reminder that these micro moments of connection – with self, with others, with nature, with music (with anything that helps you to feel grounded and present) – are powerful medicine. The invitation is to not only create them, but also to allow them to simmer in your being.
Give yourselves permission to anchor in the present moment through these micro moments of connection.
I will leave you with this inspiration: I was listening to an incredible astrologer, Pam Gregory, and she offered these statements to ask ourselves every day….
I am developing a stronger and more radiant presence.
How can I embody more light today?
How can I serve the light in a bigger way today?
The world is shaky; there is no doubt. Yet may we remember the light. May we remember to love and allow ourselves to be loved. May we remember to treat others how we wish to be treated. May we remember that through challenges new possibilities can be birthed.
I am always out here for support and connection! Reach out anytime.
Take good care of yourselves and be kind to each other.
